London Borough of Lambeth refurbishes 172 homes in 63 weeks with Rydon Construction

The London Borough of Lambeth embarked on a major regeneration project for the Myatts Field North council estate. Their challenge was to refurbish a large number of existing homes and commercial units to a high standard while the estate remained occupied, and to provide long-term maintenance for the rebuilt estate. Rydon Construction was engaged to deliver this comprehensive refurbishment and facilities management service.

Rydon implemented a rolling program of refurbishment works, upgrading 172 homes to the Decent Homes Plus standard with new kitchens, bathrooms, windows, and a district heating system. The solution included hard facilities management for a 25-year period on a fixed, managed-risk basis. As a result, completed homes were steadily handed over each week to enter the long-term maintenance program, ensuring minimal disruption and providing the borough with a sustainably improved housing stock.
