Fram - Customer Case Study

FRAM, a major oil filter manufacturer, faced challenges in its distribution process, including the need to reduce costs and improve efficiency to meet increasing customer demands and tighter margins. To address this, they partnered with logistics vendor Ryder to implement a LEAN culture within one of their distribution centers.

Ryder implemented its LEAN principles to create a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on eliminating waste and engaging the workforce. The results were significant, including a seven-figure reduction in annual distribution costs, a 100% productivity increase, and improved units per man hour from 33 to 68. Staffing was reduced from 320 to 205 employees while achieving a 99.8% pick accuracy rate and keeping inventory shrinkage at an exceptional 0.03%.
