Stanford University cuts energy use by 56% with Ruskin louvers

Stanford University sought to create a sustainable building with a modern design that matched its classic campus aesthetic, while achieving an ambitious goal of reducing energy use by more than 50% beyond standard requirements. Ruskin provided a solution using its ELC6375DAX combination louvers and dampers with ELF architectural grilles as part of a passive air management system.

The Ruskin louvers act as the building's "lungs," integrated into a digital control system to enable natural night cooling by expelling warm air. This passive system significantly reduced mechanical cooling needs, contributing to a 56% reduction in overall energy usage and helping the building achieve LEED Platinum certification.
