A RunPod Case Study
BottoDAO, a decentralized autonomous AI artist, was facing high costs and technical debt from running its Art Engine on always-on AWS instances. The challenge was to significantly reduce their infrastructure expenses without making any modifications to their existing codebase, which they considered the "DNA of Botto." To achieve this, they turned to the vendor RunPod for a solution using their Pods and Network Volumes services.
RunPod implemented a lift-and-shift migration, moving BottoDAO's four distinct worker scripts into right-sized, scheduled Pods without any code changes. By using an external scheduler and Network Volumes for persistent storage, they transitioned from always-on instances to GPUs that were only running when needed. This solution from RunPod led to a 73% reduction in their total monthly infrastructure costs while providing access to better hardware.
