Brigham Young University Utilizes Runecast Analyzer to Increase Performance and Mitigate Outages Risk

BYU Idaho, a private four-year university in Rexburg, Idaho, needed better visibility into its VMware vSphere environment to keep mission-critical applications running at optimal performance. Systems Engineer Stephen Parker was looking for a way to identify hosts that needed patching, configuration updates, and best practice changes before problems caused outages.

Runecast helped BYU Idaho by implementing Runecast Analyzer, which was installed and returning data in less than 5 minutes. The tool identified NTP, forged transmit, MAC address, old NIC, old driver, and redundant NIC issues, including at least 3 major issues affecting almost every host and over 100 issues in total. Stephen Parker said Runecast Analyzer saves him 2-3 hours a day and helps reduce the risk of huge potential outages.
