A Run The World Case Study
TechCrunch had to move its flagship Disrupt conference fully virtual in 2020 due to COVID-19 and wanted to preserve the event’s networking and social traditions for ticket holders. To recreate the informal networking experience, TechCrunch partnered with Run The World to host a free virtual Cocktail Party as part of Disrupt.
Run The World powered the Cocktail Party on September 18, pairing attendees for short one‑on‑one hangouts based on interests and profiles; more than 70 participants joined, and Run The World users reported rich global connections (one attendee logged 15 conversations). By enabling scalable, timed social meetups, Run The World helped TechCrunch broaden Disrupt’s accessibility and keep the event interactive.
