Case Study: GSV (Global Silicon Valley) achieves a 5,000-person global virtual bootcamp and lasting social networking with Run The World

A Run The World Case Study

Preview of the GSV Case Study

GSV - Customer Case Study

GSV, led by Michael Moe, faced the challenge of running its GSV Startup Bootcamp — a seven‑week program to help unemployed or underemployed aspiring entrepreneurs — remotely during COVID while preserving the informal networking that makes business school valuable. To recreate those social interactions for thousands of participants, GSV partnered with Run The World and used its Cocktail Party feature to integrate speed‑networking and live virtual talks into the programmed syllabus.

Run The World hosted Cocktail Party sessions, multi‑round one‑on‑one conversations, live talks, office hours and a Demo Day, enabling large‑scale engagement and discourse. The first bootcamp launched July 20, 2020 drew thousands of participants from around the world, dramatically increasing international participation compared with prior in‑person events (which were roughly 15% non‑US), allowed GSV to spin up local chapters remotely, and Michael Moe says he will use Run The World for all social components going forward.
