Working in partnership with the Co-op to support volume hiring during the COVID-19 pandemic

Co-op Service Centre, part of the Co-op, needed to rapidly scale temporary contact centre hiring during the early COVID-19 pandemic to support surging demand in convenience retail and funeral care. Working with Rullion as its Managed Service Provider for temporary workers and IT contractors, the customer had to recruit key workers quickly while managing on-site onboarding, social distancing, and health risks for vulnerable candidates and their families.

Rullion responded by leveraging its existing talent pool, adding targeted sourcing from impacted sectors, and introducing bespoke pre-screening, remote interviewing, and risk-aware onboarding. Rullion pre-screened 166 candidates and successfully onboarded 146 temporary workers in just over a month, helping Co-op Service Centre fill urgent roles at speed while maintaining candidate safety and a positive experience.
