University of North Carolina General Administration worked with Ruffalo Noel Levitz to address teacher shortages in the state and meet 10-year growth targets set by the University of North Carolina Board of Governors for each of the state’s 15 teacher education programs. The organization needed help assessing the situation and developing strategies for recruiting more teacher education students.

Ruffalo Noel Levitz launched a two-phased market research project that included internal surveys, focus groups with campus representatives, K-12 schools, financial aid directors, state grant administrators, and current and prospective teacher education students. Using the research findings, University of North Carolina General Administration’s Teacher Recruitment Core Team created a system-wide marketing and recruitment plan with data-driven strategies for program organization and structure, data gathering, marketing and recruitment, and financial incentives.
