The House at Cornell Tech - Customer Case Study

The House at Cornell Tech is a Passive House–built residential high-rise on Roosevelt Island housing more than 500 technology graduate students. The project required a high-performance, reliable and ubiquitous Wi‑Fi network to support hundreds of devices and bandwidth‑intensive applications, but deployment was constrained by an ongoing cabling plan and non‑ideal access point locations.

Elauwit selected Ruckus for its BeamFlex+ antenna technology and deployed H510 in‑room APs, R510s in common areas, T301s outdoors and an on‑premise SmartZone 100 controller, supported by a 2.5 Gb primary and 500 Mb redundant circuit. The result is seamless coverage and Wi‑Fi calling across the building, with about 1,000 devices connecting daily, 800 guest logins and roughly 2 TB of traffic per day; most residents now use the building Wi‑Fi for voice, video and data, reducing reliance on traditional services.
