Smarter Outdoor Wi-Fi Network Delivers DSL-Like Broadband Service Indoors to Massive Condo Complex

Sunbird Resort, a 288‑unit oceanfront condominium complex, faced a major connectivity challenge: no in‑unit Ethernet and a legacy 18‑node outdoor Wi‑Fi system that only delivered usable service near windows, lacked central management, and couldn’t adapt to interference or changing conditions — problems made painfully obvious after an outage.

Systems integrator Networx Solutions rebuilt the network using six Ruckus ZoneFlex 2741 outdoor APs and a ZoneDirector 1006 controller with two wired root APs and adaptive mesh/beamforming. The new design replaced 18 devices with six, provided complete outdoor‑to‑indoor coverage, central management, resilient mesh failover, two SSIDs (including guest access), and boosted indoor signal strength from under 30% to 50–80%, delivering reliable DSL‑like broadband at lower cost.
