A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Herschel Girls School, an independent Anglican school in Cape Town with over 1,000 pupils and about 200 staff across 16 buildings, needed reliable classroom internet to support widespread teacher and student device use. The school wanted a managed Wi‑Fi infrastructure for selected indoor areas—atrium, libraries, boarding house and administration—to provide seamless roaming and a platform for future expansion.
Partnering with 4th Dimension Technology and Ruckus Wireless, Herschel installed nine ZoneFlex 7341 single‑band and one ZoneFlex 7982 dual‑band access points after a site survey and on‑site proof of concept. Within three weeks almost 400 devices were connected and roughly 40% of senior pupils were using the network; staff gained access to internal systems and network printers, the estate manager can now view security cameras, and the centrally managed, cost‑effective solution provides a scalable foundation for campus‑wide Wi‑Fi.
