Case Study: InnFlux achieves secure, automated hotspot access and bandwidth fairness across 1,000+ student rooms with RUCKUS Networks SecureHotspot

A RUCKUS Networks Case Study

Preview of the InnFlux Case Study

Securing Access To Open Hotspots With Zero Hassle

InnFlux was hired to provide Internet services for The Village at South Campus, a new BYU student housing development by Peak Capital Partners. The challenge was to deliver reliable, secure Wi‑Fi across an open-hotspot environment for hundreds of students without on-site IT, avoiding tedious client pre-configuration while ensuring bandwidth fairness, VLAN-based traffic separation, and dense-client performance.

InnFlux deployed Ruckus SecureHotspot (ZeroIT + Dynamic Pre‑Shared Key) with ZoneFlex APs and a ZoneDirector controller, using a web portal to auto-provision unique per‑device encryption keys and direct users to the correct VLANs. The 242‑AP rollout covered ~1,000 rooms and ~2,000 devices (about one AP per four rooms), reduced hardware and management costs versus per‑room APs, delivered reliable high‑density performance, enabled tiered paid plans, and significantly lowered support overhead.
