A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Sea Mar Community Health Centers, a nonprofit operating 45 clinics across the Northwest with about 1,200 staff, depended on Wi‑Fi for EMR access but suffered frequent dropped connections and roaming failures in a noisy RF environment. These issues forced manual charting, reduced physician productivity, threatened tens of thousands of dollars in lost revenue daily, and overwhelmed a seven‑person IT team that could not remotely troubleshoot 45 sites.
Sea Mar deployed Ruckus ZoneFlex 2942 Smart Wi‑Fi APs and ZoneDirector 1000 controllers in a flexible, hybrid model (local and remotely managed over its MPLS backbone). The smart‑antenna APs and centralized management eliminated costly RF site surveys, simplified deployment and configuration, and delivered stronger coverage with fewer APs—resulting in fewer dropped connections, more consistent performance, and restored clinical productivity.
