A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Sandals Resorts International, a luxury hotel group with 20 Caribbean properties and over 5,000 rooms, faced growing guest demand for reliable outdoor and indoor Wi‑Fi as visitors brought more smartphones, tablets and laptops. Existing, sparsely placed access points produced slow, dropped connections and limited coverage, and Sandals needed an all‑802.11n, scalable solution with centralized management, outdoor coverage without new Ethernet cabling, and support for video, voice and point‑of‑sale.
Sandals selected the Ruckus ZoneFlex 802.11n Smart Mesh system (with ZoneDirector controllers and a Nomadix gateway), rolling out more than 100 outdoor APs, about 80 indoor APs and multiple controllers. The mesh design delivered complete outdoor grounds and improved indoor room coverage with fewer APs, reliable high‑performance connectivity for streaming and VoIP, unified administration from a single console, and a cost‑effective model they could replicate across all properties.
