A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
San Leandro Unified School District, serving about 8,800 K–12 students plus 5,000 adult learners across multiple campuses, faced an aging 10/100 Mbps network and weak Wi‑Fi that couldn't support 1:1 learning or future growth. With one‑time funding and a need to avoid recurring upgrades, the district required a high‑performance, scalable, cost‑effective infrastructure that would not disrupt teaching and learning.
The district deployed Ruckus ICX 7450 and 7750 switches in campus IDFs and district MDFs to create a modular, plug‑and‑play network delivering 40 GbE today with an easy path to 100 GbE. The first campus swap was completed with zero classroom impact and produced faster, more stable performance; the new, fiber‑ready network scales to support many devices, protects the district’s investment for the next decade, and enables richer digital learning.
