A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, a private foundation founded in 1925 that provides housing for over 6,100 international students across 6,000 rooms, faced growing Wi‑Fi congestion and poor wireless coverage as residents adopted multiple mobile devices and bandwidth‑heavy apps like Skype. Despite fiber to each room, the campus needed a high‑density wireless solution that would deliver predictable performance, broad coverage and secure device access across many differently constructed buildings.
Working with partner IPSILAN, the campus deployed 400 ZoneFlex R500 access points for residences and R710 Wave‑2 APs for common areas, managed by virtual SmartZone (vSZ‑E) controllers and using existing cabling. The upgrade delivered stronger, more consistent coverage, higher concurrent‑user capacity, easier management, and a future‑proof 802.11ac network—eliminating complaints and enabling the campus to become fully digital.
