Ruckus Wi-Fi Solution Offers True Carrier Class Functionality

Greenfield Community Energy and Technology (GCET) is a city-created ISP serving Greenfield, MA, where roughly 40% of the 21-square-mile town was underserved by broadband. Facing outdated infrastructure and affordability gaps that hurt students, businesses and economic growth, the city needed a cost-effective, carrier-class network that could blanket the town and scale for future bandwidth demands—without using taxpayer funding.

GCET deployed 900 Ruckus T710 outdoor access points and the virtual SmartZone controller hosted on AWS, leveraging Ruckus APIs for analytics and fixed‑wireless/Hotspot 2.0 connections into homes and businesses. The solution delivers carrier-class performance and scalable management, targets 90% coverage, and enables affordable tiered service (including sub-$10 options for low-income residents), providing reliable, gigabit-capable broadband to the community.
