A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Dr Pepper Ballpark, home to the Frisco RoughRiders and seating 10,316 fans, needed to add seamless, high-density Wi‑Fi by Opening Day 2017. The venue had been built without Wi‑Fi in mind, so the team faced a tight three-week timeline, open-air coverage and interference from nearby networks, plus strict aesthetic and operational constraints for mounting equipment.
Partnering with Skinny IT, the ballpark deployed a Ruckus solution using ICX switches as a redundant fiber backbone, 85 indoor/outdoor Ruckus APs, and two virtual SmartZone controllers, plus vSPoT analytics. The rollout delivered fast, reliable roaming and high-capacity Wi‑Fi (with 20% fewer APs than competitors), simplified management, actionable fan analytics and a measurably improved fan experience and vendor services.
