A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Bidvest Panalpina Logistics (BPL) needed reliable wireless coverage across a 61,000 m2 outdoor parts yard in Rosslyn, where 6 m‑high stacks of metal containers, a triangular site layout and the inability to install a wired Ethernet backbone caused severe signal dead zones. The facility required two fast WAN links, self‑healing connectivity and an off‑grid power solution to deliver instructions to Windows-based Intermec terminals mounted in cranes and stackers.
Ruckus and integrator Wireless LAN deployed two ZoneFlex 7731 outdoor bridges for backhaul, nine ZoneFlex 7762 outdoor APs and a ZoneDirector 1112 controller to form a managed wireless mesh with beamforming and interference rejection, powered by solar. The rollout delivered blanket, centrally managed coverage, reliable real‑time connectivity to yard equipment, faster and more accurate operations, quick deployment and low maintenance.
