Ruckus Networks Connects Mauritius Campus to Perth’s Curtin University

Charles Telfair Campus, part of Curtin University in Mauritius and serving about 2,000 students and staff, was struggling with an aging wireless network that caused outages and disrupted lectures and online coursework. The campus needed a scalable, high-density Wi‑Fi solution with better visibility and easy central management to support blended learning and simultaneous sessions with Curtin’s Perth campus.

Following a tender, partners Westcon and Infosystems AA deployed 68 Ruckus 802.11ac access points managed by Ruckus Virtual SmartZone, providing coverage across classrooms, lecture halls, libraries and common areas with capacity for roughly 900 concurrent users. The new network delivered steady connectivity, higher throughput and improved density, reduced complaints, and gave IT staff the monitoring and management tools they needed for a reliable, future‑proof campus Wi‑Fi.
