A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Universidad Interamericana para el Desarrollo (UNID) is a 52‑campus Mexican university system serving 42,000 students and 5,000 teachers. Aging buildings with thick walls and high‑density device usage left the legacy Wi‑Fi unreliable, collapsing during peak hours and generating frequent complaints, so IT needed a cost‑effective, future‑proof wireless solution to deliver consistent indoor and outdoor coverage.
Working with partner Lattice Group, UNID deployed heat‑map‑guided Ruckus hardware—227 802.11ac indoor APs managed by a Virtual SmartZone controller using BeamFlex™—typically 5–12 APs per campus. The new network improved coverage and capacity, reduced help tickets, increased concurrent users, and raised satisfaction from 5.4 to 8.2 (a 52% uplift), prompting plans for further rollouts.
