A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Santa Fe College, a Gainesville, FL community college serving roughly 30,000 students, faced an aging network of Alcatel switches and Cisco routers across 28 buildings, two data centers and multiple remote sites. The legacy Layer 2 design required manual configuration, suffered frequent outages and lacked redundancy, while growing demands for video-rich distance learning, cloud services and IP telephony created a need for higher throughput, automation and centralized management.
The college replaced its core and campus access with Ruckus ICX switches (ICX 7750 cores and ICX 7250 access/stacking) and deployed Ruckus Campus Fabric and long‑distance stacking. The result is a single logical, highly resilient network managed from a central dashboard, with automated provisioning, greatly reduced maintenance, improved security and the capacity to support video, cloud apps and future IP telephony—while extending redundancy across data centers and campus buildings.
