Ruckus Helps Hotel Guests Check in to World-Class Wi-Fi

Pudong Shangri‑La, a luxury business hotel in Shanghai’s Lujiazui financial district, faced rising guest complaints and heavy IT maintenance as demand for high‑bandwidth services like streaming and video conferencing outpaced its aging Wi‑Fi. Coverage was patchy across guestrooms and public areas, support was hard to provide outside standard hours, and some guests even requested dedicated bandwidth or SSIDs.

Working with reseller Guangzhou Huisen and Ruckus, the hotel completed a three‑month upgrade to ZoneFlex H500, R500 and R710 802.11ac Wave 2 access points and a SmartZone 100 controller (Pujiang building: 576 guestrooms and 27 suites). Ruckus BeamFlex and ChannelFly technologies improved coverage and interference handling; 1,200–1,600 devices now connect regularly and guest complaints about Wi‑Fi have dropped by 80%, prompting plans to roll out the solution to the hotel’s other building.
