A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Black Hat, the world’s premiere information security conference, needed a secure, reliable, and easy-to-manage network that could handle extremely high device density for more than 17,000 attendees. In earlier years, the RUCKUS-provided Wi‑Fi was layered over other networks, creating challenges for the event’s performance and security.
RUCKUS Networks implemented over 100 RUCKUS 802.11ac indoor access points and two ZoneDirector controllers, with RUCKUS ICX switches helping deliver a more secure and reliable setup. The result was a network that supported over 17,000 clients, blocked several malware proliferation attempts by revoking access to offending devices, and provided a future-proof foundation for the growing conference.
