A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Dalian Neusoft University of Information, a private university in northeast China with over 14,000 students, faced chronic Wi‑Fi problems from an aging 802.11n/g network: slow speeds, frequent disconnections, and overcrowded access points that couldn’t support peak‑hour streaming or modern campus services. The university needed a more reliable, high‑capacity network to improve the student experience and enable value‑added services and big‑data analytics.
The university upgraded campus-wide networking with 1,530 Ruckus access points, Ruckus SmartZone virtual controllers (with redundancy) and 65 ICX 7150 switches, using BeamFlex+ RF optimization and 802.1X security. The deployment delivered gigabit‑class speeds and stable performance for video, unified communications and VDI, streamlined user and IT onboarding, reduced O&M costs, and supports about 3,000 concurrent clients today with capacity to scale to 8,000, while enabling future analytics (Cloudpath and SPoT) for traffic visualization and attendance.
