A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Lyndoch Living Aged Care, a Warrnambool facility serving roughly 200 residents (198 beds) and 400 staff across a 13‑acre, multi‑building campus, needed a reliable, facility‑wide Wi‑Fi backbone to support high‑bandwidth and mission‑critical applications (RFID, VoIP, electronic medication, RTLS) in a challenging RF environment with lots of electrical interference. The organisation required consistent coverage with QoS, centralised management and no blackspots to enable a shift from paper and wired systems to mobile, wireless workflows.
After a trial and tender process Lyndoch deployed a Ruckus ZoneFlex solution (65 ZoneFlex 7363 APs and two ZoneDirector 3000 controllers) delivered by DyCom. Ruckus’s adaptive antennas and SmartCast QoS provided stable, blackspot‑free coverage with fewer APs (lower CAPEX) and easy in‑house management (reduced OPEX). The network now supports tablet‑based medication management, RFID/RTLS asset and resident tracking, VoIP communication badges and other apps, improving efficiency, accuracy and staff productivity.
