Provides a Secure and Reliable Network, Cloudpath delivers BYOD security

Forest Hills Public School District in Grand Rapids, MI — a 68‑square‑mile district with more than 10,000 students and 1,200 staff across 24 buildings — struggled with a legacy wireless network that couldn’t keep pace with growing device density and digital learning needs. RF‑unfriendly construction and access points bogging down at 25–30 devices led to daily helpdesk tickets; the district needed secure, easy‑to‑manage, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi and a way to safely onboard BYOD devices while future‑proofing the network.

Working with partner Vector Tech Group, FH deployed nearly 1,000 Ruckus 802.11ac APs (R500, H500, R700), two virtual SmartZone controllers for redundancy, and Ruckus Cloudpath ES for certificate‑based WPA2‑Enterprise BYOD onboarding. The upgrade delivered reliable, secure coverage, raised per‑AP concurrent user capacity to over 100 users, significantly reduced IT tickets, and provided a scalable foundation for continued digital learning.
