A RUCKUS Networks Case Study

Preview of the Paycom Center Case Study

Paycom Center delivers 51 Mbps arena Wi‑Fi with RUCKUS Networks

Paycom Center, home to the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder, faced significant network challenges as its existing infrastructure could not handle the demand from sold-out events. High support costs and a lack of free guest connectivity prompted the arena to seek an upgrade. They partnered with RUCKUS Networks to overhaul their entire facility's wired and wireless systems.

RUCKUS Networks implemented a solution using their ICX switches and RUCKUS access points, managed by a SmartZone controller and RUCKUS AI. This new network now handles terabytes of data per event, provides average Wi-Fi speeds of 51 Mbps download, and supports over 10,000 ports and hundreds of POS tablets. The arena successfully monetizes the Wi-Fi for back-of-house operations and marketing, and it was among the first NBA venues to deploy Wi-Fi 6 in 2020.
