Pacific Ridge School Gives Ruckus ZoneFlex an "A" for a Robust WLAN that's Simple, Scalable and Affordable

Pacific Ridge School is a new independent middle and high school on a 7.3-acre campus in Carlsbad serving roughly 500 students across four buildings. With a small, part‑time IT staff and tight nonprofit budgets, the school needed ubiquitous, reliable Wi‑Fi that minimized Ethernet drops and access points, avoided RF interference, supported VoIP and mixed client devices, and was simple to install and manage remotely.

NetCom deployed a Ruckus ZoneDirector 1025 controller and eight ZoneFlex 2942 APs (two per building) using PoE and smart directional antennas. The self‑configuring system with Dynamic PSK delivered full campus coverage with seamless roaming, superior VoIP and multicast handling, and automatic interference avoidance. Results included only eight APs vs. 20+ from competitors, Ethernet drops reduced from 240 planned to ~180, about 60% lower capital cost than alternatives, and fast, simple setup and remote administration.
