A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
WOW Logistics, a large third‑party logistics provider with 23 facilities and nearly 7 million square feet of dry, refrigerated and freezer warehousing, struggled with unreliable wireless in an environment full of steel racking and water-heavy products (cheese, paper, pulp). Their legacy WLAN produced just 1 Mbps of throughput under real conditions, causing dropped connections, unresponsive Motorola handheld scanners and push‑to‑talk badges, and operational delays.
WOW replaced the legacy system with a Ruckus ZoneFlex deployment (ZoneFlex 7363/7962/7762 APs plus ZoneDirector controllers and FlexMaster management), which focused RF where needed and adapted to changing conditions. The upgrade delivered consistent, full coverage, eliminated RF shadows, increased TCP throughput to about 83 Mbps (a roughly tenfold improvement), improved device reliability, centralized management, and came in at about one‑fifth the cost of competing bids.
