A RUCKUS Networks Case Study

Preview of the Players Club Case Study

Keeping Students Unplugged but Well Connected with ZoneFlex Smart Wireless LANs

Players Club is a 31‑building, 214‑unit (624‑bed) student housing community in Statesboro, GA owned by Education Realty Trust. The aging Wi‑Fi—originally about 70 legacy APs and a 900 MHz backbone—produced spotty coverage, dropped connections and hundreds of monthly trouble calls, made worse by brick construction and offsite IT support; management needed a centrally managed, remotely administered solution that eliminated dead spots while minimizing equipment.

Pavlov Media deployed a Ruckus ZoneFlex Smart WLAN with redundant ZoneDirector controllers, fiber to each building and 35 ZoneFlex APs (replacing the legacy APs). The result was complete coverage with half the number of APs, trouble calls falling from over 100/month to fewer than 10, nearly triple data traffic, improved signal reach and reliability, faster deployment and less than half the capital and operational cost of the previous system.
