Jeju Special Self-Governing Province bridges the digital divide for 14 million visitors with RUCKUS Networks

Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, a major tourist destination in South Korea, sought to bridge the digital divide and enhance its smart city infrastructure by deploying a free, advanced public Wi-Fi network. The challenge was to provide high-speed, reliable coverage across the island, including for tourists and IoT devices, using equipment resistant to salt corrosion. To meet these needs, they partnered with RUCKUS Networks.

RUCKUS Networks implemented a solution using their SmartZone Controller, RUCKUS T750, T670, and R670 Access Points, and RUCKUS IoT Controller. This provided the province with a high-performance, future-proof Wi-Fi infrastructure. The results successfully bridged the digital divide in remote areas, enhanced tourist satisfaction with free uninterrupted access, and established a sustainable foundation for data-driven smart city services.
