A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Yogyakarta State University (YSU), a major public university in Java with more than 30,000 students and 2,000 staff, faced a fragile wireless environment that hindered modern e‑learning. The old network was hard to manage, had security gaps (students and staff shared networks), limited capacity (one access point supported only about 20 devices), and required users to report IT issues in person, creating heavy help‑desk overhead.
YSU chose Ruckus after trials and deployed Ruckus ZoneDirector controllers and over 100 access points (171 deployed to date) with features like Dynamic PSK, Zero‑IT activation, BeamFlex and ChannelFly to boost capacity and simplify authentication. The upgrade delivered faster, more secure Wi‑Fi that supports high‑density lecture halls and mobile learning, halved wireless complaints, reduced downtime and help‑desk load, and prompted plans to expand the Ruckus footprint further.
