A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Park West School Division is a rural Manitoba district of 15 K–12 schools serving about 2,100 students across thousands of square kilometers. The division’s vision for digital learning was held back by poor broadband, spotty legacy Wi‑Fi from a vendor exiting the market, and a three‑person ICT team stretched thin by hard‑to‑manage equipment.
After the region installed 230 km of dark fiber giving each school a 10 Gb backbone, Park West deployed Ruckus solutions—200 802.11ac APs, six ICX switches and Virtual SmartZone—for unified wired and wireless management. The upgrade delivered reliable, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi that supports full classroom device density, remote centralized management, stronger security (Dynamic PSKs and guest isolation), lower costs, and community access; the division is now Google Classroom‑ready and has a future‑proof network.
