A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Goiás (IFG) is a multi‑campus higher education institution serving more than 11,000 students across 14 campuses. IFG was relying on consumer‑grade wireless equipment that produced slow, insecure connections, poor coverage, frequent downtime and limited capacity (around 400 concurrent users), and it needed a scalable, centrally managed high‑density Wi‑Fi solution to support teaching, events and campus activities.
After a proof of concept, IFG deployed Ruckus technology—more than 200 ZoneFlex R700 dual‑band 802.11ac access points and a ZoneDirector 5000 controller—to provide centralized management, better signal coverage and high‑density performance. The rollout delivered campus‑wide, reliable Wi‑Fi, enabled electronic attendance control and online classroom activities, and increased concurrent connection capacity from hundreds to peaks of 3,500 (with reporting showing potential for 15,000), noticeably improving usability and scalability.
