High Performance Long-range Outdoor Wi-Fi Bridges Ensures Inner South Community Health Service Delivers Timely, Cost-effective and Accessible Services

Inner South Community Health Service (ISCHS) is a major community health provider in inner southern Melbourne serving a catchment of 190,000 people from four centres. Growing staff, more notebooks and new e‑health applications strained an aging wireless WAN, causing dropped connections, slow access to client records and costly separate-site voice calls—while leased Ethernet would have added about $30,000 a year.

ISCHS worked with Dycom to deploy Ruckus ZoneFlex long‑range outdoor wireless bridges, ZoneDirector controllers and ZoneFlex access points in a point‑to‑point topology. The upgrade delivered much higher throughput and sub-3 ms round‑trip latency, centralized network management, fewer fileservers, free inter-site calls and an immediate return on a $45,000 one‑off investment, improving reliability, performance and cost-efficiency.
