A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Herricks School District, a Long Island system serving about 4,000 students across five schools, faced failing Wi‑Fi from legacy vendors, tight budgets and the added pressure of pandemic-driven distance learning. The small IT team needed a scalable, high‑capacity network to future‑proof digital learning and avoid disruptions to instruction.
Working with Network Outsource, the district deployed CommScope RUCKUS Wi‑Fi 6 indoor/outdoor APs, ICX multigigabit switches, a new fiber backbone, Cloudpath enrollment and RUCKUS Cloud management. The result is edge‑to‑edge coverage with redundancy and higher throughput (20/40 GB links), a 30% reduction in APs (lower cost), easier guest provisioning and stronger security, enabling a 1:1 Chromebook rollout, full teacher adoption of Google Classroom and reliable support for online testing and school operations.
