Hands-free wireless voice solution helps hotel staff better perform guest services

InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco, a 380-room luxury hotel, needed to improve staff communication without disrupting the guest experience. Existing pagers and walkie-talkies proved noisy, inefficient, and not hands-free, causing missed messages and poor coordination between front desk, housekeeping, and banquet services.

The hotel deployed Vocera hands-free wireless voice badges and upgraded its wireless network with Ruckus access points to provide full, voice-quality coverage. With 148 active users, staff can instantly reach individuals or groups, speeding responses and improving coordination—resulting in better staff performance, quieter operations, and higher-quality guest service as the system is expanded to more departments.
