A RUCKUS Networks Case Study

Preview of the Skyfii Case Study

Free Wi-Fi Hotspots Deliver Sustainable Business Model at Queen Victoria Building and Adjacent Retail Outlets in Sydney CBD

SkyFii, an Australian hotspot provider, set out to deliver free, advertiser-supported high-quality Wi‑Fi across heritage-listed Queen Victoria Building (QVB) and three adjacent Ipoh retail centres in Sydney CBD. The challenge was to provide reliable, pervasive coverage in a complex, high-density and heritage environment while supporting advertiser reporting, session authentication, remote management and custom AP aesthetics to preserve the site’s character.

Working with BigAir and Ruckus, SkyFii deployed 16 Ruckus ZoneFlex APs, a ZoneDirector controller and FlexMaster management, with APs painted to match heritage colours and managed from BigAir’s NOC. The solution delivered consistent high-density performance, automated management and retailer-targeted content and analytics—reaching over 2,200 daily users, quick four-week installation, and strong advertiser reporting and customer support.
