Case Study: Group 1 Automotive achieves cost savings and reliable, scalable Wi‑Fi with RUCKUS Networks

A RUCKUS Networks Case Study

Preview of the Group 1 Automotive Case Study

Fortune 300 auto retailer outperforms competitors with RUCKUS Wi-Fi

Group 1 Automotive, a Fortune 300 auto retailer with roughly 300 dealerships and collision centers in the U.S., U.K. and Brazil, was hampered by costly, unreliable and hard-to-manage Wi‑Fi. Coverage gaps, interference that broke handheld scanner connections, SSID sprawl and a lack of a common platform made operations inefficient, complicated onboarding and prevented the company from sharing best practices across locations—issues made worse by rapid acquisitions and new automaker data requirements.

Replacing the legacy system with RUCKUS (over 800 APs, SmartZone controller and Cloudpath Enrollment) cut costs, improved reliability and simplified management while reducing AP counts and SSID complexity. Cloudpath secured BYOD and guest onboarding and delivered visitor analytics, and RUCKUS’s granular controls and diagnostics let Group 1 meet evolving IoT/manufacturer data demands, standardize deployments across dealerships and focus on growth instead of firefighting network problems.
