Forest Hills Public School District supports 10,000 students with 1,000 RUCKUS APs

The Forest Hills Public School District, serving 10,000 students in Michigan, faced a challenge with its legacy wireless network. The network could not support the bandwidth demands of its 1:1 Chromebook initiative, bogging down when more than 25-30 devices connected to an access point. Additionally, RF-unfriendly building materials in its 24 schools made reliable coverage difficult. The district required a secure, easy-to-manage, and future-proof network with higher client capacity per access point.

RUCKUS Networks provided the solution by deploying close to 1,000 indoor APs, including R500, H500, and R700 models. They also implemented the RUCKUS virtual SmartZone for high-availability network management and RUCKUS Cloudpath for secure BYOD onboarding. This equipped the district with a reliable and secure infrastructure, significantly increasing the number of concurrent clients supported per AP while improving signal strength and wireless reliability, creating a future-proof network ready to grow.
