Elevating the Classroom Experience with Scalable Networks while Securing Student Data

Victor Central School District (VCSD), a suburban district near Rochester, NY serving about 4,500 students and 600 staff, faced an aging wireless network built for teacher laptops—not for a 1:1 Chromebook environment. Frequent Wi‑Fi dropouts disrupted classes, frustrated students and teachers, and strained a small IT team that needed a scalable, easy‑to‑manage, and secure solution.

VCSD worked with a partner to select Ruckus and deployed 400 R710 indoor APs, five T710 outdoor APs, redundant virtual SmartZone controllers, and Cloudpath for secure device onboarding, with cabling and equipment supported by E‑rate and New York Smart School Initiative funds. The upgrade delivered reliable, campus‑wide coverage, higher client capacity per AP, seamless classroom connectivity for digital learning, and positive feedback from teachers and students.
