Delta School District Enriches Student Experience and Staff Efficiency with Smarter Wireless LANs

Delta School District, located near Vancouver, serves 33 K–12 schools and more than 16,000 students. Facing limited IT resources and budgets, the district needed a centrally managed, reliable wireless network that would blanket campuses, minimize the number of access points and cabling, support multiple SSIDs and guest access, and handle voice, video, mobile devices and even HVAC and surveillance systems.

Delta standardized on Ruckus ZoneFlex APs and ZoneDirector controllers with FlexMaster management and Smart Mesh technology, allowing a complete WLAN rollout in every school in about a year at roughly one quarter the cost of alternatives. The deployment delivered centralized remote management, fewer APs and cable runs, improved RF coverage from smart antennas, support for guest and multiple virtual networks, and enabled new uses (voice over Wi‑Fi, video surveillance and HVAC control) while simplifying administration and reducing overall cost.
