A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
San José McEnery Convention Center, the largest convention facility in Silicon Valley after a major renovation, needed to deliver reliable, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi for hundreds of high‑density tech events. The center faced expanding open spaces and high ceilings that degrade signal propagation, interference from non‑enterprise APs, and rising attendee expectations that directly affected its ability to attract events and revenue.
The City partnered with RUCKUS Networks and integrator SmartWave to deploy a unified wired/wireless solution—including RUCKUS BeamFlex+, ChannelFly, SmartCast, ICX stackable switches, SmartZone cloud management and RUCKUS AI—installed as 173 indoor and 104 outdoor APs with 84 switches. The upgrade produced up to a fourfold increase in speed and range, consistent multi‑gigabit performance with real‑time SLA analytics, flawless operation at large gaming events, a more than 10x increase in tech revenue versus the prior provider, and client savings up to 10%.
