A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
CommScope partnered with Altice Portugal to deliver high‑performance indoor and outdoor Wi‑Fi at the 23rd MEO Sudoeste, a five‑day, 16‑hectare music festival that drew 157,000 attendees. The challenge was to provide reliable, high‑bandwidth connectivity across concert, camping and parking areas so thousands of simultaneous mobile devices could stream and share video and photos without network overload.
CommScope deployed 96 RUCKUS outdoor access points (adding 10 to an existing network) managed by redundant WLAN controllers and RUCKUS SmartCell Insight, using BeamFlex+ and ChannelFly technologies to optimize coverage and capacity. The network supported about 20,000 connected devices sharing 16 TB of content, delivered an average 98 Mbps to users, and helped produce 24,000 app downloads, 7 million video views and 400,000+ social interactions—demonstrating dependable, high‑performance Wi‑Fi at scale.
