A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Chichester High School in West Sussex combined its boys’ and girls’ schools into a single 1,500-student coeducational campus but struggled with aging wired and wireless infrastructure. Rapid growth in device use caused dropped connections and login delays of up to 20 minutes, and the lean IT team needed a scalable, 10 GbE-capable, easy-to-manage solution within budget to ensure reliable, long-lived network performance.
The school deployed Ruckus ICX 6610 and 6450 switches with Ruckus wireless access points, a 40 Gbps link between sites, PoE backhaul and separate SSIDs for secure traffic segmentation; the cutover was completed in two weeks. The result is a future-proof, high-performance network that dramatically reduced login times, improved classroom productivity, supported large BYOD deployments (e.g., 400 iPads), and greatly reduced day-to-day management overhead for the IT staff.
