A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Snowbird Resort, a year‑round mountain destination near Salt Lake City that hosts nearly 1 million annual visitors, was struggling with an aging wireless system that couldn’t handle the surge of mobile devices and streaming traffic. Guests frequently complained about poor coverage and Wi‑Fi satisfaction fell below 50%, threatening the guest experience and event bookings.
Working with partner GX2, Snowbird installed a new fiber‑backed Ruckus 802.11ac network—about 340 indoor/outdoor access points and dual ZoneDirector 3000 controllers—after RF testing to simulate real guest use. The upgraded system reliably supports thousands of daily users (over 60k devices monthly, ~31% HD video traffic), raised Wi‑Fi satisfaction to above 90%, restored confidence in conference sales and enabled new services like ski‑pass checks, video walls and tablet ordering.
