A RUCKUS Networks Case Study
Beijing BISS International School, an international K–12 school in Chaoyang serving roughly 320–330 students from dozens of countries, depends on one‑to‑one devices and online learning tools. Its five‑year‑old, piecemeal Wi‑Fi was struggling with frequent drops, limited per‑AP capacity, and heavy interference from surrounding residential hotspots, creating an unstable environment for high‑density classroom use, streaming and guest access.
After a vendor trial the school deployed a Ruckus solution (a ZoneDirector controller with 35 ZoneFlex access points) in a phased 2009–2010 upgrade. Ruckus’ smart‑antenna and interference‑avoidance technology delivered broader, more reliable coverage with fewer APs, while centralized management and Dynamic PSK guest provisioning simplified security and administration. The result was stable, high‑density Wi‑Fi that supports voice/video streaming, easier guest separation, lower overall equipment cost (10–20% savings) and a better e‑learning experience.
