Baden-Baden equips students for a digital future

Baden‑Baden needed to equip 20 state schools (6,800 students, 400 teachers) for the region’s digital syllabus and Smart Learning but most sites had no WLAN and a few were isolated with unreliable internet. The city required a centrally managed, secure, data‑protection‑compliant and modular network that could scale to ~7,000 users without adding workload for teachers.

Häusler KG partnered with RUCKUS to deploy two redundant Virtual SmartZone controllers and 195 RUCKUS indoor access points (covering ~50,000 m2) using BeamFlex to support up to 100 devices per AP. The result is a centrally administered, high‑capacity network (peak 2 GB/s, ~150 GB/day) that simplified installation and management, enabled interactive digital teaching across all schools, boosted student engagement and teacher effectiveness, and remains extendable via Hotspot 2.0, eduroam and the city WLAN.
